THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING THE 2024 TX BLACK WOMXN RJ SUMMIT!
WE’LL SEE YOU IN 2026!
The Texas Black Womxn Reproductive Justice Summit was an immersive summit experience centered on celebrating radical self-care, offering Black womxn a space that radiated authenticity, self-love, and community care. Created in direct response to the lack of press coverage, effective policy strategies, and advocacy initiatives designed for Black womxn’s reproductive health in Texas, this summit convened Black womxn to lead conversations on critical issues surrounding reproductive health at the intersection of race, class, and gender.
Summit Highlights:
Keynote speakers and breakout sessions
Evening with the Mothers of the Movement Loretta Ross and Byllye Avery
The People’s Party: a vibrant celebration of Black cis and trans womxn
The Black Girl Magic Experience: a dive into the rich history of The Afiya Center
Soul’d Out Sunday: a unique event fostering spiritual awakening and empowerment
Did someone say doula training? The Afiya Center was pleased to offer a comprehensive doula training program developed by The Afiya Center's doula collective, Southern Roots Doula. This two-part hybrid series took place virtually on May 15th, and in-person on May 20th and 21st. We were steadfast in our commitment to ensuring accessibility for Black birth workers, offering this unique training opportunity at an equitable rate.
